Wedding Gown Trends for 2025

At Port 393, we are all about design. And can you blame us? With a stunning venue filled with attention to detail in every aspect of architecture, our team loves a fabulously designed event to match our equally fabulous spaces.

BLACK AND WHITE

Kicking it off strong with an ode to our famous black and white dance floor: White gowns with black accents. This bold trend pairs well with fresh, crisp, modern décor. Elegant black bows, dramatic silk gloves, two toned bodices all play into this up-and-coming trend. Why not institute a black dress code and play around with some black accessories to compliment your guests?

Elevate your groom’s wedding attire and have him opt for a white tuxedo jacket to compliment your bold choice. The results will be classically chic. With dramatic wedding portraits on the rise, the black and white aesthetic is the icing on the cake in terms of wedding photography. If your goal is to look timeless, elegant and sophisticated, black and white is the vibe for you!

FLORALS

Moving from modern and bold to whimsical and feminine we have 2025 floral gowns. And we are in full support of greenhouse inspired attire. White organza with delicate patterns of blues and pinks and greens are what dreams are made of. The trend is easy to obtain with textured fabrics, beaded floral overlays or subtle embroidered bodices. The bolder brides can opt for cheerful, colored gowns filled with bold florals.

Brides that err on the more subtle side of trends can opt for full white with embroidered florals or vines. If a floral gown is too out of the box for your taste, incorporate this feminine trend on your train. Etsy offers an impressive array of hand embroidered floral trains from bright and cheery jewel tones to soft creams and ivories. Similarly, ask your hairstylist about floral crowns or delicate blooms woven into your wedding day hairstyle.

DRAPERY

If you’re a bride looking for a flowing, ethereal effect, you will swoon for the draping silhouettes of this coming year. This trend spans a wide range of shapes. From the empire waist of Juliet to the full ball gown of Cinderella, layering fabrics is extremely versatile. Classic A-line skirts walked the runway this season, creating lovely texture and visual interest.

Organza and tulle are the fabric of choice for a more whimsical feel, while raw silk and taffeta give the trend more structure and dimension. Add in a lovely off the shoulder sleeve for effortless romantic vibes. Drapery tends to hold the spotlight quite well on its own; if you’re looking for more detail, beading works in harmony with this style in place of lace.

This simpler style allows you to go bolder in your accessory choices: chunkier necklaces, larger earrings, hair jewelry or colored heels can easily take center stage. Ruching, drapery’s more dramatic cousin, is a tighter, more gathered fold and an excellent choice to create curves on a slimmer figure. Pair ruching with a mermaid or fit-and-flare silhouette for the biggest impact.

THE LITTLE WHITE DRESS

The 40’s and 50’s were responsible for the “Going Away Dress,” a practical and endearing tradition of changing into a functional yet adorable traveling dress or suit to bid farewell to guests and jet off on the honeymoon. The trend of purchasing a second wedding gown rose in popularity in the early 2000’s, giving brides the option of wearing two gorgeous, yet different styles on their special day.

A new tradition is on the horizon, blending these two traditions: The little white dress. Think practical and classy. The little white dress is easy to dance the night away in but also more elaborate than what you would wear at a club or out to dinner. Step out of your comfort zone and dazzle in a flapper-style silver, beaded number.

This trend is your chance to try something you wouldn’t normally wear: ruffles, puffy sleeves, beading and feathers. The sky’s the limit and your dance moves will thank you! This trend is about comfort as much as it is about fashion.

VINTAGE WEDDING GOWNS

While you won’t find this trend on the runway, you will find it down the ceremony aisle. 2025 brides are going the sentimental route and honoring their mothers in the most touching way: wearing their mom’s wedding gown. Whether this means, wearing it as is, ruffles, aged lace, puffy sleeves and all; or revamping the gown and re-working it into a style all your own, there are countless ways you can honor your parents by choosing to don her wedding dress.

Expert seamstresses that have knowledge of cleaning and restoring fabrics can create wonderful new designs that honor both current trends and trends of the past. If you want your own gown but still want to dedicate a piece of your wedding day attire to your mother, try incorporating a piece of fabric into your bouquet or trim your veil with her gown’s lace. Fathers tend to be in the forefront on a daughter’s wedding day. We love seeing the mother of the bride relive her own wedding day through her daughter’s re-styled gown.

BOWS

Let’s tie off our 2025 gown trends with a nice, neat bow. Adorable fabric bows were all over the New York runway last year and it looks like they are here to stay for 2025. From giant statement pieces on plunging backs to delicate details along the train, you can hop on the bow train in a variety of ways. Bows work wonderfully on sleek, simple gowns with little to no embellishment so that they stand out strong.

Want to incorporate this trend into your attire but don’t want to commit to your gown? Try a classic white ribbon in a loose updo in place of a veil. Simple bow earrings have been all the rage in 2024 and are a sweet touch to bridal attire. If you adore the girly detail, why not carry it over to your wedding décor? Ribbons are on the rise in a variety of ways. From napkin ties and stationary, to floral arrangements, we are all about this ultra feminine trend.

Whether your style leans bold and modern or soft and romantic, 2025 bridal fashion is designed to impress. Fashion trends emerging from the runway are as unique as our Port 393 brides, and we can’t wait to see the stunning choices our brides bring to our ceremony aisles this year.
